At least three civilians have been killed and four others sustained injuries when unidentified warplanes reportedly attacked Kamjiroon village which lies 25km west of Kismayo town. The attack reportedly took place on Sunday evening.

There was no immediate confirmation of which country was involving the attack though Somalia’s allied countries led by the United States government recently stepped up aerial bombardments against Al-Shabab militants in the south and central Somalia.

Senator, Iftin Hassan Basto, who spoke to VOA Somali, has condemned the attack against the civilians.

"The bombardment took place in the outskirt of Kismayo town, the attack targeted civilians, those who were injured were ferried to hospitals in Kismayo, the attacks against civilians are increasing, we are going to discuss this matter with the Parliamentary Defense Committee,” said Basto.

The attack comes on the heel of another attack carried out by US suspected drones in Somalia’s Galgaduud region.

According to sources, the drones hit Al-Shabaab convoy travelling near El-Bur town.

Several militants including well-known militant poet identified as Yussuf Dhegay were reportedly killed.

Early this year, Somali president, Mohamed Abdullahi said his government in collaborating with U.S. government would increase attacks against the militants.

Al-Shabaab which is al-Qaida affiliate still controls parts of the countryside.
